With over 23,000 employees and more than 2,000 job classifications, the County of Santa Clara is very involved in ensuring our workforce meets the needs of our organization for today's work, as well as, planning for the future of work. We want employees to have a chance to start their careers here and finish their careers here, while growing their skills and opportunities for advancement. The size and scope of our organization allows just that.
The County's Learning and Employee Development (LED) division is dedicated to providing ongoing training to help employees enhance their existing skills, or upskill, and reskill to take on new job challenges. With hundreds of instructor-led courses and on-line self-directed training topics, learning something new that will improve your employee experience is as close as your keyboard. You can gain the knowledge needed to step up in your job class, or into a new class altogether.
In addition to the County's LED division, most employees that are represented have access to professional development, training leave, tuition reimbursement, and certification maintenance funds for training related to their area of expertise. Eligible items can include:
- Online courses
- Professional conferences
- Digital media courses and materials
- Digital or print professional journals, magazine subscriptions and/or books
- Professional association memberships
