Supporting our retirees: zero-dollar premium medical plans available - for life*!
The County of Santa Clara recognizes that our employees give to our community in so many ways. We want to support our retirees and one significant way we do that is by extending the opportunity to continue access to our group health insurance offerings for employees who have worked at least 15 years for the County.
Similar to active employees, the County provides many choices for eligible retirees when it comes to medical plan insurance. Through multiple plans offered by Valley Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, and Health Net, you can continue getting care from your existing providers. And several options allow for premiums to be paid entirely by the County. Meaning zero dollars out of your pocket. For life!
Each of the three medical plans offers at least one plan with a zero retiree-paid premium - a benefit for the rest of your life! You'll get robust medical plans at group rates, and in some cases get reimbursements for Medicare Part B expenses.
You can see the listing of offered coverage for the current 2023-2024 plan year here and the monthly premium contributions for each plan for self and dependents. This is just another way the County works to support our employees who have dedicated their careers to public service.
